In general, legal translation is the technical or specialized translation of the texts relating to legal documents. In fact, legal professionals have always been confronted with the difficulties linked to the linguistic diversity of the world. Legal translators, for example, had to transpose Roman law, written in Latin, into many other languages in order to allow its dissemination and understanding. Sometimes they also had to translate a customary legal orders formulated orally into a local language into a written legal documents.
Regarding to the legal texts, in particular international documents (examples: international conventions, patent, commitment, labeling or cross-border value contracts) or cross-border application (examples: directive or European regulation), legal translation play important role in these matters.
However some legal concepts are not universally acceptable and therefore they are difficult to translate.
